All students who are alleged to have violated the Honor Code are guaranteed certain basic rights designed to ensure a fair hearing. These rights include access to any evidence against them and the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. A listing of students' procedural rights can be found in Section IV.A of the Instrument of Student Judicial Governance.
All Carolina students are expected to refrain from lying, cheating, and stealing. The Instrument of Student Judicial Governance sets forth additional responsibilities, many of which are set forth in the Instrument of Student Judicial Governance, Appendix A. These responsibilities are the minimum expected of members of the Student Body; all students are expected to actively support and protect the ideals of the Honor System at Carolina. These responsibilities must not only be met, but exceeded, for Carolina’s Honor System to continue to thrive.
